Oils and fuels (hydrocarbons) are a significant cause of contamination and are some of the most difficult substances to remove from water. Consider this - as little as one litre of oil will contaminate up to ONE MILLION LITRES of water.
Governments at all levels are now moving to protect our scarce water resources with increased monitoring programs and higher penalties. Today government, industry and the general public are demanding that suppliers meet the highest environmental standards.
No successful business or government department can afford to be associated with substandard environmental practices. Regardless of the size of your business, careless response to spill management will not only prove financially costly but extremely damaging to your hard earned reputation.
Sokerol, specifically designed to meet the highest EPA requirements, has become the one stop solution to spill management for industry at all levels. Sokerol has a natural preference for hydrocarbons (oil/fuels) making it the ideal absorbent to be used in all weather conditions for oil spills and on all surfaces including water. (See Demonstration)
Sokerol passes the Australian Standard 4493.3-1997 (TCLP - USEPA Toxic Characteristic Leaching Procedure – Method 1311) for both hydrocarbons (oils/fuels) and cooking (vegetable) oils. This means it meets the highest international standards for the retention of these liquids and is ideal for industries trying to establish an Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO14001-2004.
AS 4493.3 -1997 contains the Australian leaching standards for disposal of contaminated waste into lined or unlined landfill. Sokerol, when used to absorb a hydrocarbon (oils/fuels) or cooking oil, may be disposed of directly into unlined landfill, saving the end users significant disposal costs. (See Disposal).
Sokerol absorbs 2-3 Litres per kg (depending on the liquid), reaches maximum absorbency within 2 minutes, may be used in all conditions and has no significant disposal costs, making it extremely cost effective. (See Absorbency Test Results).
Sokerol is 100% organic and non-leaching for hydrocarbons making it an ideal product for the remediation of soils that have been contaminated by hydrocarbons. (See Bioremediation).
